Free Time – Cordoba!
When you join our volunteer program in Argentina, you’ll be working Monday-Friday for an average of 5 hours a day. That leaves your evenings and weekends totally free to the pursuit of exploring Argentina and all it has to offer, and you deserve it!
Home to its own brand of Latin dance music called Cuarteto, Cordoba has an active nightlife scene. You’ll also find a wide range of good restaurants. A university town, you can expect to find young people out socializing until the wee hours and enjoying the city’s unique sights, sounds, and flavors.
You can spend your days in Cordoba wandering Jesuit ruins, marveling at both contemporary and historical architecture, and visiting some of the city’s impressive art museums. There are also markets to shop in, and a creative artist’s hub that’s worth a visit called Carlos Paz while volunteering in Argentina program.
Weekend Exploration
Weekends are the perfect chance to get out and explore other parts of Argentina! There are few countries which rival Argentina for its diversity in landscapes. From the Andes to hot and humid wetlands to glaciers to a wild, Patagonian mountain wilderness larger than the UK, the country of Argentina contains worlds and worlds inside of it.
You can enjoy stunning natural beauty, friendly people with a fascinating culture, amazing food, incredible wines, and a whole lot more when you visit and volunteer in Argentina. There are countless not-to-miss spots and must-see attractions. Here are a few to get you started:
The Devil’s Throat. This is Argentina’s must-see waterfall, and one of the planet's most spectacular sights. One can observe a deafening cascade plunging to an invisible destination and rising in a smoke-like plume. Don’t miss this majestic awe-inspiring sight during your weekend explorations from your Argentina volunteer project.
One of Argentina's most-visited national parks. This natural gem lays in the southwestern Neuquén and western Río Negro provinces, and has a beautiful lake and fantastic hiking.
This is one of the best rock formations in Argentina, unofficially called the Angastaco Natural Monument. The jagged mineral-streaked mountains laced with sandy desert trails, pockmarked rock formations and countless viewpoints is spectacularly stunning. It is an inspirational place to experience the rugged terrain in your weekends off from your Argentina volunteer opportunity.
Serranía de Hornocal
This otherworldly mountain gives an impression of jagged row of rock 'teeth' embellished with utterly spectacular colors. It is set at a high bridge crossing with a long, seemingly endless road which climbs to a 4000m high pass.
Other interesting places to visit during your weekends off are:
Visit the San Ignacio Mini to observe its impressive mission ruins and carved ornamentation.
Check out the Centro Cultural Kirchner to see this post office turned cultural center.
Spend time at the Palacio San Jose to witness twin towers surrounded by elegant gardens.
Visit the Parque 3 de Febero and enjoy open parklands, small lakes and pretty gazebos
