Global Crossroad works with eight local orphanages and sends volunteers from around the world to lend a helping hand in these invaluable facilities.
Most orphanage volunteers in Nepal help teach English, organize and promote creative learning activities, and assist with the day-to-day care of the children.
Skills and Qualifications Needed There are no specific skills and qualifications required in order to volunteer in an orphanage in Nepal. However, you should have a true passion for working with children.
You should also be patient, kind, compassionate, and flexible. Your love, support, guidance, care, and teachings will make a significant difference in the lives of the children who live at the orphanage.
Volunteer Responsibilities As a volunteer at an orphanage in Nepal, you will play multiple roles and have various responsibilities. During the day, you will volunteer three to four hours of your time to teaching English at the orphanage or at a local school where the children attend.

Orientation and Language and Cultural Immersion in Kathmandu (7 Days)
Your volunteer and adventure trip in Nepal will begin with a 7-day cultural and language immersion program. You will spend this first week in Kathmandu where you will have the opportunity explore the temples, shines, and bazaars there.
You will also spend time in the rural village of Lamatar where you will experience local village life and explore numerous sites of cultural significance.
Volunteer in an Orphanage in Nepal (14 Days)
For the next two weeks of your volunteer and adventure project in Nepal, you will spend time volunteering at a local orphanage. Your days will be spent teaching English, organizing fun games and activities, and assisting with the day-to-day routine of the children there.

Every year, thousands of volunteers spend time in Nepal. Most, however, pay upwards of $2,500 for a two-week volunteer project in Nepal. This amount is astronomical for most! Global Crossroad offers volunteer opportunities in Nepal for as low as $180 a week.
You will pay a one-time registration fee of $299 and then a low weekly program fee, which goes directly to your host family and chosen project.
Global Crossroad is dedicated to helping the disadvantaged people and communities in Nepal. The allocation of your program fees is completely transparent and any funds that aren’t used up will be donated directly to the orphanages and community projects.

Global Crossroad directly manages your living accommodations, meals, and project supervision. Most volunteers reside at a home base, which is a permanent home that is set aside specifically for volunteers.
Most volunteer projects in Nepal are located between two and five kilometers away from your home base, so your daily commute will be quite easy.
You will receive three meals a day for the duration of your volunteer program in Nepal. Your meals will be healthy and locally inspired.
Traditional Nepali cuisine typically includes rice, curry, dahl, and chapatti, and pickles. A packed-lunch can be prepared, if you will not be back at the base for lunch.
You will always have 24/7 in-country support and supervision at your project site. Your home base will be in a safe and secure neighborhood and within walking distance to basic amenities. A professional local staff member will manage your home base.
