Brazil Street Art Volunteer Program!

Have you been called to help poor communities in Brazil? How would you like to join a unique street art project and beautify Rio’s poor favela neighborhoods?

Brazil is an exciting city with Samba fueled nights, sunny days on stunning beaches. It offers you the opportunity to explore mighty Amazon River, Carnival, Samba, world-class Football and music filled Latin cities.

The dark side of Rio is the deep-seated poverty that persists in the poor neighborhoods called favelas.

Here people are so poor they struggle to survive, and their vibrant culture and spirit can become dimmed by problems like hunger, lack of education, crime, and drugs.

Help bring beauty, creativity, and hope back to the favelas with Global Crossroad’s unique Brazil street art volunteer program. You’ll help in the creation of beautiful murals that brighten up these struggling communities, teach art classes, and paint homes of poor people in need.

Help make the world a more beautiful place! Contact us today to learn more.

Volunteer Responsibilities & Impacts

At this project, you will work closely with the members of the favela community to help them beautify their neighborhoods and inspire them to incorporate creativity into their own lives. You’ll teach art classes to kids in local schools, paint homes and many other skills.

Share your passion and make a big impact at Global Crossroad’s Brazil street art volunteer program! Most of the kids have never had the chance to take an art class, so you’ll be opening up a new world of positive self-expression to them. The murals help the favela residents take pride in the place they live, and create a happier, more beautiful home for them.

Skills and Qualifications

There are absolutely no specific qualifications required to join the street art volunteering program in Brazil, and even if you don’t speak any Portuguese you are welcome to join. We invite enthusiastic volunteers from all backgrounds and around the world.

The main thing you will need at this project is a passion for artistic expression and a dedication to helping others in need. You will be teaching classes and working with low-income students, so knowing a little Portuguese will come in handy.

You’re going to inspire so many people in need, and we applaud your humanitarian efforts. Before you travel to our Brazil, you probably have a few questions you need answered. Here’s some helpful information to provide some answers for you.

Arrival and departure

Rio de Janeiro International Airport is the designated point of arrival for all of our volunteers planning to work in Rio. We highly advise volunteers to fly into Brazil one day before the start date of your project.

Global Crossroad provides airport pickup services. A local representative will be there at the airport terminal waiting to take you safely to your accommodations. Make sure to provide our local country coordinator with correct flight details for hassle-free airport pickup and inform us of delays or changes in travel plans.

When it’s time to head back home, you’ll need to book your own taxi to the airport so budget accordingly.

You can visit the official embassy or consulate of Brazil in your home country. Depending on your nationality, you can skip the trip and apply for a Brazilian eVisa. Check out this website and do your research based on your home country’s requirements.

Vaccination

The first step towards a safe and stress-free trip abroad is protecting yourself against picking up any pesky illnesses while traveling. Meet with your doctor and get vaccinated at least a few weeks in advance of leaving home.

The most recommended vaccines for a street art volunteer trip to Brazil are Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), influenza, pneumonia, measles, mumps and rubella, polio, chickenpox, rabies, hepatitis B, shingles, meningitis, typhoid, hepatitis A, and yellow fever.
