It is a mesmerizing flight into Kathmandu on a clear day. For your comfort, our guide will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel. The rest of the day is reserved for rest.
You will enjoy a scenic 30-minute flight to Lukla airport. Lukla is a cliff hanging airport in the Khumbu region, from where the real trekking adventure in the Everest region begins. Upon reaching the airport, you meet our guide and start to ascend up to Phakding along the Dudh Koshi River Valley.
From Phakding, walk to Monjo along the round river. After crossing the river several times on the high suspension bridge, you reach Monjo, the entry point of the Sagarmatha National Park. After that, you take steep steps to Namche, where you spend the night.
Namche is the major trading village of the Khumbu region and includes a busy market. It is also a meeting spot for the Tibetan and the Hindu traders. Rest day for acclimatization and exploration.
Leaving Namche Bazaar, you climb up to the Khumjung hill and descend to the east of the valley, where you find two trails. Your guide will choose the best to take, then you climb to the top of the ridge.
You then follow a route that descends via a series of twists down a sandy slope to the Dudh Koshi.
Leaving Phortse Thanga, you trek alongside a rhododendron forest to Tongba Village. From Tongba Village you trek towards Machhermo, passing through Dhole, Labarma and Luza villages. You can pay a visit to a Chorten on the path. You walk alongside the Dud Koshi River for the duration of your hike on this day.
Today, you start your trek by climbing to the crest of a ridge, where you get to experience the remarkable view down the valley to Kangtaiga. You then hike to the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa Glacier, then descend down to the riverbank.
The trail levels out after you cross an iron bridge and pass the first lake called Longpongo. You will see the lama footprints on the stone here. The second lake, Taboche Tsho, greets you with a gleaming turquoise blue sheet of water.
Acclimatization and exploration day. After exploring the lakes, you get up at sunrise and follow a trail up to the Gokyo Ri. As you climb, the summits of Everest, Makalu and Lhotse and of Gokyo Ri come into view.
Today, you trek through the Ngazumpa Glacier to the peak on the other side. Further on, you walk along the shore of that peak to reach Thagnak.
The toughest day of your trip. The Cho La Pass is very steep and comprises a glacier walk on the eastern side.
You then reach Phedi and climb through a ravine and rocky trail. The top of the pass is decorated with Buddhist prayer flags. From there, you pass severalcrevasses before reaching Dzongla Village.
Today is a very Short Trek. You have a lot of time to relax and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. Climb down from Dzongla and walk through a grassy trail to enjoy the view of Lobuche Peak.
Today, you trek to Everest Base Camp through the Gorak Shep Lake. You have to take an arduous trail past the Indian Army Mountaineers’ Memorials and rocky dunes, through moraine and streams to get to the Everest Base Camp. After observing the stunning views of the snow-capped summits, you get back to Gorak Shep and spend the night.
Kala Patthar viewpoint observation day. The trail leading to Kala Patthar is very steep, so you take it slow to reach the top. The sight from the top of Kala Patthar is one of the best views of mighty Everest. You get to watch the stunning views of the grand Lingtren, Khumbutse and Changtse mountains. You will get the opportunity to spend some time at the top before you descend down to Pheriche to spend the night.
From Pheriche, you trek down through the hillside. The route descends rapidly through a pine forest after crossing the bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. On this route, you may get the chance to see pheasants and mountain goats. Passing through Sansa village and winding tracks, you finally reach Namche Bazaar to spend the night.
From Namche, you descend along the steep trail to Lukla. This last evening calls for a party with the Sherpa guides and fellow trekkers.
You pack up early and head to the Lukla airport to catch a flight back to Kathmandu. The rest of your day is free to do your own things.
