After sightseeing in Kathmandu followed by a beautiful view of the sunrise and sunset, you will set off on a journey to Bardia National park. You will be doing a number of fun activities in the wilderness of the National park, like walking in the jungle, an elephant safari, a float safari and bird watching. This amazing trip will also introduce you to the traditional and authentic Tharu culture.
The tour will start from Kathmandu with a sightseeing of the UNESCO cultural heritage sites followed by mesmerizing views of the sunrise and sunset in Nagarkot. It will also take you to the wilderness of Bardia National Park and amidst its incredible wildlife.
A representative from our company will come to receive you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. You will check into your hotel and then briefed about the Kathmandu and Bardia National Park tour. In the evening, you will be greeted with a welcome dinner, which will introduce you to authentic Nepalese food.
On the second day of the Kathmandu valley and Bardia National Park tour you will be checking out the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu.
The first destination of the day will be Basantapur Durbar Square (Kathmandu Durbar Square). The courtyards, streets, palace, temple (built in pagoda style), architecture and monuments of the area are the perfect reflection of the craftsmanship of the medieval times.
The next destination is Pashupatinath temple. The main attraction of the holy site is the temple of Lord Shiva; the complex is filled with temples and idols of different gods. Every year Hindus from different parts of the world pay homage to this sacred place.
Another stop is Swayambhunath stupa. It is also famously known as monkey temple. The stupa is located on top of a hill that is a holy place for Buddhists. It also possesses a beautiful view of the valley.
The next stop on the tour is Boudhanath. It is one of the largest stupas in the world and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. You will observe the practice of Buddhist culture at its best and witness Buddhist monks and devotees chanting prayers and lighting butter lamps.
The Patan durbar square area is filled with beautiful art and architecture from medieval times.
Another stop of the day is Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which has maintained a more authentic local lifestyle than Kathmandu and Patan. The main attractions of durbar square are an intricately carved 55 window palace, golden gate and nyata-pola temple.
After sightseeing at Bhaktapur you will be driving towards Nagarkot. It is a popular tourist destination, which is famous for its breathtaking view of sunsets over the Himalayas. Basking in the amazing views the powerful sunset will mark the end of day 3. You will spend the night at Nagarkot.
You will be starting the fourth day program by enjoying the sunrise over the Himalayas. After breakfast, you will drive towards Tribhuwan International Airport to catch a flight to Nepalgunj. It will take an hour to reach Nepalgunj by air. From here, it is a 2 hour drive to Bardia National Park.
After having lunch you will be visiting a typical Tharu village of the indigenous people here. You will be visiting the Bardia National Park, where the main attraction is crocodile farming. The overnight stay at Bardia National Park will mark the end of day.
After having breakfast, you will begin your journey deep into the woods by foot in the company of an expert guide. The National Park is home to a number of animals like the one horn rhinoceros, Asian elephant, hog deer, spotted deer, striped hyena, black buck and wild boar.
At different places of the jungle there are towers where you can wait for wildlife to pass by. Your guide will help you spot the wild animals. After the tour of the jungle, you will have dinner. You can also take part in the traditional dance of the Tharu.
On the sixth day, you will be driving to Chisapani, which is a village that sits over Karnali River. After having breakfast a drive of an hour will take you to Chisapani. The safari float here is a great way to experience the river and its wildlife.
A guide will be accompanying you while you admire the sub-tropical landscape with amazing wildlife. Wild animals’ drinking water on the bank of the Karnali river is a common sight. Karnali is the habitat of endangered animals like mash mugger, gangetic dolphins and the gharial crocodile. The trip is perfect for bird watching as there is a variety of migratory as well as resident birds.
A cultural dance from the Tharu people followed by an overnight stay at Bardia National Park will mark the end of day.
After having breakfast, you will be going on an elephant-back jungle safari. The elephant usually head northwest, which increases the chances of encountering animals like languor, monkeys, deer, rhinos and boars. Riding on elephant back also prevents possible animal attacks in the wild.
You will be traveling to Nepalgunj to catch the flight back to Kathmandu.
