Volunteer Responsibilities & Impacts

Through tasks such as planting, reforestation, and garden care, volunteers play a key role in keeping ecosystems healthy. They also learn about the gardens' ecological importance, especially for supporting butterfly populations. Activities include garden upkeep, plant propagation, watering, composting, and other essential tasks to keep the center flourishing.

Additionally, volunteers work under staff guidance on various activities such as laboratory work, preparing materials, creating educational signs, gardening, feeding and cleaning, monitoring host plants, enhancing enclosures, assisting with exports, data collection, research, leading tours, center improvements, and social media and marketing efforts.

When you complete your project, you will need to arrange your own departure transportation as it is not included in your volunteer fee.

You should be up to date on your routine vaccines, as well as Hepatitis A & B and Typhoid. You can also find information on the CDC website.
