How your fee is allocated?
Dear volunteers
Not only does Global Crossroad offer the most affordable volunteer programs but also adopts an honest model of financial transparency. No other volunteer organization has offered fee structures as low and financial transparency as high as Global Crossroad, in the history of volunteering abroad.
In our model, our fees are divided in two parts:
Application Fee - $299: The application fee is required to meet administration costs in order to sustain the organization and survive in the business. The fee is used to pay for advertising, utilities, rent, head-office salaries and other related business expenses.
Weekly Program Fees: Volunteers will be required to pay a weekly fee for the program of their choice. Most of this fee is used for room, food and donation. Volunteers will pay weekly fee directly to the country coordinator.
It is the responsibility of the country coordinator to pay the received fees to the host families and local projects on behalf of the volunteer. As no one works for free, a small percentage of the weekly program fees is used in covering local office expenses (salary of local staff, communication costs, transportation of local staffs to visit volunteers/projects and more). The allocation between host families, projects, and local coordination differs by country, location etc.
There is no fixed mode for the distribution of fees, however a generalized breakdown of fees can be given as:
- Host Families (60%-80%)
- Project Donation (10% - 20%)
- Local Country Office Expenses/Staffs (10-30%)
You can discuss with country coordinator if you want to know the exact amount of fee allocation.
It is our sincere hope that the explanation of fees allocation will help you understand what the fees you pay is being utilized for. We take pride in providing volunteers with the transparency that no other organization can give, when the issue of program fee emerges.
