Volunteering in Namibia

Have you ever dreamed of visiting Namibia? Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people and animals? Consider volunteering abroad in Namibia with Global Crossroad Volunteers for a meaningful experience!

Namibia offers plenty of exciting sights and activities! From the stunning Namib Desert with its towering sand dunes to the diverse wildlife in places like Etosha National Park, there's a lot to explore.

You can also discover the different cultures of Namibia, such as the Himba and San communities, each with their own traditions. For some adventure, you can try activities like sandboarding or quad biking in Swakopmund.

Namibia faces challenges despite its natural and cultural beauty. Poverty is widespread, and many communities lack access to essential services like healthcare and education. Medical facilities are often insufficient, leaving people without proper treatment and care. Also, there's a shortage of qualified English teachers, limiting educational opportunities for children and their future job prospects. Moreover, Namibia's wildlife is threatened by habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict.

Global Crossroad collaborates with local organizations to address the challenges faced by Namibia. Through a variety of volunteer programs, we strive to make a positive impact on these unfortunate circumstances. By joining our volunteer programs, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable Namibians who are enduring extreme poverty. Whether you choose to contribute to healthcare, teach English, or engage in wildlife conservation efforts, you'll serve as a catalyst for positive change, shaping a brighter future for both the people and wildlife of Namibia.

Yes, Global Crossroad will arrange for you to be picked up from the airport when you arrive for your volunteer program in Namibia. Just send us your trip details in advance, and our local team will meet you at the airport.

What if I miss my flight or arrive late?

If your flight is delayed, don’t worry. We’ll adjust your pick-up plans as needed. You’ll get contact details and the hostel address in your placement packet. If there are any changes, let us know right away so we can arrange a new pick-up time, or you can use a local taxi to reach the hostel.

When should I arrive if my project starts on Monday? Can I arrive earlier? Where do I stay, and is there an extra cost?

It’s a good idea to arrive a day early for volunteering in Namibia. We suggest arriving on Saturday, as all our volunteer programs start on Sunday. This gives you time to rest and begin your project feeling refreshed. You can stay at our hostel for an extra fee, which covers food and accommodation. Just inform our in-country coordinator about your plans, and they’ll help with the arrangements.

Who will take me to the airport when I leave?
