Free Time – Galle, Kegalle and Pinnawala
You will work for 5 hours from Monday to Friday when you participate in Sri Lanka volunteer programs. Your free time in the mornings and evenings will be yours to explore the local area around your project placement.
Our volunteer projects are located in the cities Galle, Kegalle and Pinnawala.
Galle is a timeless place with great historical significance. Here you will find impressive Dutch colonial buildings, ancient mosques, beautiful churches, and interesting museums.
Kegalle is more inclined towards agriculture and is known for its graphite’s and gemstones.
Pinnawala is distinctively known as the elephant island, where sprawling herds of elephants catch tourist’s attention. It is undoubtedly one of the best places to be during your free time while volunteering in Sri Lanka.

This mainland church is Sri Lanka’s most hallowed Christian monument. This monument symbolizes the persecution of Catholic Sri Lankans by the protestant Dutch colonial authorities in Mannar in 1670. To this day it stands tall and proud, and is a memorable place to visit while volunteering in Sri Lanka.

The Bundala National Park is home to thousands of colorful birds and is a fantastic maze of waterways, lagoons and dunes that glitter like gold in the dying evening sun. This wetland sanctuary is a perfect place to visit during your weekends of your Sri Lanka volunteer program.
Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil
This huge Hindu temple, crowned by a towering gold-encrusted gopuram is one of the most significant Hindu religious complexes in Sri Lanka. A visit to this stunning temple gives you a feeling of peace and serenity and will be a memory you will treasure for a lifetime.
Yapahuwa Rock Fortress
This dramatic rock fortress with a steep ornamental staircase and porches on the stairway has extraordinarily beautiful pierced-stone windows. This is a stunning site that you can encounter while participating in Sri Lanka volunteering programs during your weekends.
