FAQs

Arrival and departure

Volunteers joining our community development program in Uganda should arrive at Entebbe International Airport a day before their program starts. To ensure everything runs smoothly, we suggest sending your flight details to our country coordinator ahead of time.

Airport pick up and drop off

When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, we make sure you get a warm welcome. Our local team will pick you up and take you to your accommodations smoothly. Just share your flight details with us, and if your flight is delayed or missed, let us know so we can arrange another pickup. We don’t include airport drop-off after your project, but our coordinator can help you book it.

Visa

To volunteer in Uganda, you need a visa, which you can get upon arrival or from a Ugandan consulate, unless your country is visa-exempt. Your passport should be valid for at least six months. Uganda now issues electronic visas (e-Visas), so if you get one, make sure to bring a printed copy. The e-Visa system has taken over from the visa-on-arrival, so apply for your visa online before you travel. For detailed information on obtaining a Ugandan tourist visa, please visit the Uganda Immigration website.

Vaccination

Before you travel to Uganda, the CDC suggests getting vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever, which you need to enter the country. Malaria prevention is important, though there’s no vaccine—so taking anti-malarial medicine is recommended. If you'll be around animals, get a Rabies vaccine, and consider the Cholera vaccine if you'll be in places with poor sanitation.
