There are many Child Development Centers for children between the age of 2-6 years in nearby cities and industrial areas in Thailand . Close to primary schools, these centers are being run by various groups, such as: the local government, communities, temples or foundations which provide services to the poor families who have low-paid jobs (mostly the factory workers) and cannot afford to hire nannies for their children or send them to private nurseries. The parents drop the children off at these centers before they go to work and pick them up after at the end of their work day. As a volunteer in Thailand for the young children, participants can teach them to speak and write, walk and run, sing songs, play sports and fun games, shape clays, dance, etc. Volunteers can devise their own creative, hands-on plans to conduct classes which suit the needs and interests of the young children. Volunteers working with young children will be provided with teaching and playing materials for the use in the centers. The working hours are between 8:00 am – 12:00 noon.
